Hezbollah source to NOW Lebanon: Nasrallah will hail Saudi role, will reject quadripartite alliance in elections
March 13, 2009

A Hezbollah source told NOW Lebanon on Friday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will address the recent domestic, regional and international developments in his speech on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday.

The source said Nasrallah would tackle the Arab reconciliation, especially after Wednesday’s Riyadh Summit and its positive effect on the domestic and regional levels. Nasrallah would hail the Saudi role in the region, the source said, adding that the party leader would adopt a different approach toward some Arab states, such as Egypt.

The source also said that Nasrallah would confirm the need to maintain the current calm atmosphere in Lebanon and would reassure that there would not be quadripartite alliance in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The source said the secretary general would also underline the opposition’s unity and its strong alliances in the elections. “Hezbollah is keen in forming its electoral lists to preserve its allies’ position and to run democratically in the elections. This will preserve the roles of all Lebanese political forces and will respect the state,” the source explained.

Nasrallah would also respond to the recent Israeli maneuvers, the source said, adding that it would not change the power balance. Nasrallah would also assure Hezbollah’s readiness to confront any attack on Lebanon, the source concluded.
