Hezbollah denied any role in Thursday's rocket attack carried out from southern Lebanon against northern Israel, a government minister with the militant party told AFP.

"Hezbollah is not aware of the rocket attack," Labor Minister Mohammed Fneish said.

"Everyone knows that Hezbollah does not shy away from claiming responsibility for its actions," the statement said.

Earlier, Information Minister Tarek Mitri said that Hezbollah, which fought a devastating war with Israel in 2006, had indicated no involvement.
