Hezbollah official Sheikh Naim Qassem said that his party would not give up its arms unless the state built an equivalent force.
At a political meeting in Beirut’s southern suburbs, Qassem said that “we believe in a strong resistance and we should work on strengthening it and we also believe in the Lebanese army and the necessity to provide it with adequate arms to resist Israel.”
“We have no reservations about receiving equipment from any country,” Qassem said, adding “we also believe in the outcome of the ballots.”
“The reconciliations are political and aim at proving the difference among the Lebanese factions is political; there won’t be any alliance with the majority [in the upcoming elections],” Qassem said.
