Information Minister Tarek Mitri said that Thursday’s attack on a Lebanese army helicopter, which killed one officer and has been widely blamed on Hezbollah, raised questions regarding the collaboration between the Lebanese army and Hezbollah.
In an interview with LBC television on Saturday, Mitri said that the core of the problem in Lebanon was the ongoing attempt to obstruct the state-building process “for decades” until regional solutions emerge. “It is the indisputable duty of all Lebanese to resist outside threats,” he added.
Mitri also said that the cabinet was neutral during its meetings. “I belong to the majority; however, I am not a member of any party or movement,” he said.
In reference to recent Israeli threats towards Lebanon, Mitri said that predictions regarding a future war with Israel require analysis and each person’s opinion will differ according to their information. “I think there is no war on Lebanon and everyone, including Hezbollah, should not give Israel any opportunity,” he said.
