The Maronite Union condemned Thursday’s downing of a military helicopter in southern Lebanon.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Union said the incident could have dangerous repercussions and said the use of violence to achieve political objectives could not be justified.

The Union called on the government to expand investigations into the incident, and bring those responsible to justice.
