Future Movement MP Atef Majdalani on Friday called for the investigation into Thursday’s shooting of the Lebanese army helicopter to be assigned to the Judicial Council, and he categorized it as a terrorist crime against the state.
He added that the most dangerous aspect of the incident was that “the alleged criminals had the gall to talk about red lines,” a reference to Hezbollah, who is thought to be behind the attack.
“Are these red lines against the Lebanese army?” he asked.
He said that the criminals used the slogan “use weapons to protect the weapons,” and called for the shooting to be discussed as part of the defense strategy during the roundtable dialogue as soon as possible, and for restricting the use of weapons to legitimate military institutions.
He concluded that only the Lebanese army has the authority to set red lines, because all Lebanese should be equal and respect the law.
