Labor Minister Boutros Harb commented Thursday on Energy Minister Gebran Bassil’s remarks to An-Nahar newspaper published the same day - that Batroun will likely play host to an electoral showdown during the May 30 municipal elections.

Harb said the statement “reflects a state of fear and panic - that voters in the city would express their opinions and exercise their right to choose who they want.”

The labor minister said he would not interfere in the Batroun elections. “I will leave the choice to the electorate,” he added.
