Berri voices concern over “Israel’s hostile policies”
March 16, 2010

During his meeting with EU Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton in Ain Al-Tineh on Tuesday, Speaker Nabih Berri voiced concern over “Israel’s hostile policies, which, not only threaten the occupied territories, but the entire region,” the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Tuesday.

Berri discussed with Ashton the latest developments in Jerusalem following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to build an additional 1,600 settlements in East Jerusalem.

Ashton, in turn, said the Middle East Peace process talks should be resumed.

According to the NNA, Patrick Laurent, the head of the delegation of the European Commission and the delegation accompanying Ashton also attended the Ain Al-Tineh meeting.

In addition, Ashton met with Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Shami to address domestic and regional developments, said the NNA.
