EU Foreign Affairs Chief Catherine Ashton arrived in Beirut from Syria on a private jet, along with a delegation to meet with Lebanese officials, reported the National News Agency (NNA) on Tuesday.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Shami as well as Patrick Laurent, the head of the delegation of the European Commission, welcomed Ashton at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport.
Ashton’s visit to Lebanon comes as part of a five-day tour of the Middle East that began on Sunday.
