Defense Minister Elias al-Murr chaired on Monday the first meeting of the commission tasked to propose an administrative-appointment mechanism, after which he said the commission would submit to the cabinet its proposed candidates by the end of March, NBN television reported.

Because the commission’s ministers represent all of Lebanon’s parties, nobody will be surprised by their proposed appointments, Murr added. 

The cabinet last week appointed Prime Minister Saad Hariri to chair the commission, while ministers Elias al-Murr, Jean Ogassapian, Wael Abu Faour, Mohammad Jawad Khalifeh, Mohammad Fneish and Gebran Bassil were selected as its members.
