As-Safir newspaper reported that Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt cancelled on Sunday night his interview scheduled to take place with Future News on Monday.
Jumblatt was supposed to appear on a program entitled Interviews, whose presenter Paula Yaacoubian said she did not receive any clarification as to the reasons behind the cancellation, added the daily.
As-Safir quoted a “well-informed” source as saying that Jumblatt’s decision is related to his interview with Al-Jazeera television on Saturday, to which “he has nothing to add.”
However, this does not mean that Jumblatt will not appear on Future News at a later stage, added the source.
Jumblatt admitted during his interview with Al-Jazeera television that he had previously made some inappropriate comments about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad “in a moment of anger and loss.” In 2007, Jumblatt had described Assad as "a savage, Israeli product, liar, criminal, and the dictator of Damascus.”
