Habach drops all charges against Jumblatt
March 14, 2010

Head of the Arab Legal Committee for the Defense of Syria Hussam al-Din Habach told AFP on Sunday that he dropped the charges filed by his committee against Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt for inciting US occupation of Syria and offending Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

According to Habach, Jumblatt fulfilled the committee’s condition of making a public apology to Syria.

This comes after the PSP leader admitted during an interview with Al-Jazeera television on Saturday that he had previously made inappropriate comments about Assad “in a moment of anger and loss.” In 2007, Jumblatt called Assad "the dictator of Damascus... a savage... an Israeli product, a liar... and a criminal.”
