During a meeting on Sunday with the Lebanese community in Berlin, Prime Minister Saad Hariri said that Lebanon should be able to rebuild and protect itself on its own away from the “regional and international game of axes.”
Hariri pledged to prevent any sectarian or national sedition from affecting Lebanon’s national unity.
“We will not be able to safeguard Lebanon against foreign danger, particularly the Israeli aggression, if divisions among the Lebanese and accusations of treason continue,” he added.
The Lebanese cannot save their country if they remain “sectarian tribes that fight for power,” the PM said, adding that Christian-Muslim equality and national unity allow Lebanon to confront dangers.
Hariri called for learning from the German rebuilding experience following their country’s complete destruction in World War II.
“We do not own Germany’s economic and natural capabilities, but we have the willpower to end the political and economic decline,” he said.
