Syrian President Bashar al-Assad pledged on Sunday to attend the March Arab League summit in Libya, the National News Agency (NNA) reported. Libyan President Moammar Qaddafi sent an official invitation to the Syrian leader earlier in the day.

Assad voiced hope that the summit would ensure Arab solidarity and that its participants would take practical steps to serve their causes, particularly the Palestinian one.
