Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said in a statement on Sunday that Lebanon did not sign an agreement in 2007 with the US, but a donation - which granted some aid to the Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces (ISF).
His comments come after several March 8 coalition figures, including head of the Media and Telecommunications Commission Hassan Fadlallah and Speaker Nabih Berri, criticized the former PM’s cabinet for reportedly signing an agreement with Washington to supply long-term training and equipment to the army and ISF when the parliament was shut down from December 2006 until May 2008.
In his statement, Siniora questioned why March 8 coalition members would launch attacks against him and attempt to sabotage state institutions, especially the ISF.
The former prime minister said it is up to the cabinet to discuss such issues.
