Aridi calls for letting cabinet settle US agreement controversy
March 13, 2010

During an interview with Al-Manar television on Monday, Public Works and Telecommunications Minister Ghazi al-Aridi called for letting the cabinet settle the issue of the agreement that was allegedly signed between the US and the Internal Security Forces in 2007.

This comes after several March 8 coalition figures, including Head of the Media and Telecommunications Commission Hassan Fadlallah and Speaker Nabih Berri, criticized former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora’s cabinet for reportedly signing an agreement with Washington to supply long-term training and equipment to the army and ISF when the parliament was shut down from December 2006 until May 2008.

“Let the cabinet decide on how to resolve the matter,” he said, voicing concern over any US-related policy.
