Following his meeting with Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Saturday, Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Gabriel Checchia described Hariri’s visit to Italy, which is scheduled to take place during the second half of April, as “extremely important” to Rome.
“We are making all efforts to ensure the success of the trip,” he said.
Italy supports Lebanon and is committed to its participation in UNIFIL, he added.
He also noted he and Interior Minister Ziad Baroud signed an agreement to enhance living conditions in Lebanese prisons.
He added that he participated in the launching of a project funded by Italy in partnership with the UN Human Settlement Program to encourage administrative decentralization in Lebanon.
