According to an anonymous diplomatic source in Beirut, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa told Libyan officials that failing to invite Lebanon to the Arab summit later this month - as diplomacy norms oblige - is a mistake, As-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported on Saturday.
The source also said that Moussa told Lebanese officials that the country’s failure to participate hurts Lebanon and the Arab League. Moussa is expected to visit Lebanon on March 18.
Several figures, including Speaker Nabih Berri, have objected to Lebanon’s participation in the summit, saying that Libya remains responsible for Shia leader Imam Moussa Sadr’s disappearance in Libya in 1978.
