President Michel Sleiman met with Mexican businessman of Lebanese origin Carlos slim, who Forbes magazine announced Wednesday is the world's richest man. 

Following the meeting, Sleiman called for strengthening ties between Lebanon and its emigrants and for encouraging investment in the country.

Slim, in turn, commended the progress made in reconstructing Lebanon, adding he is ready to contribute to several projects.

Sleiman is to hold a dinner in Slim’s honor in Baabda on Friday.

According to the National News Agency (NNA), Slim visited with Prime Minister Saad Hariri and with Speaker Nabih Berri, who offered him an honorary medal.
