The March 14 alliance will deliver a message calling for peace and the protection of Lebanon from foreign and domestic dangers during its annual conference in Bristol Hotel on Sunday, said Democratic Gathering bloc MP Marwan Hamadeh on Friday.

He commented on media reports on the 2007 agreement between the US and Internal Security Forces, saying they are exaggerated and inappropriate. ISF Director General Achraf Rifi does not even come close to suspicion, he added, in response to some politician’s accusations that Rifi signed the alleged security agreement. However, according to other politicians, the document was on US aid to Lebanon’s training programs.   

Training ISF members has enabled the dismantling of Israeli espionage networks, he said, adding, “Maybe some are annoyed given that part of the recovered data might favor the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL)’s investigation.”  

He also said that over the past two weeks, the cabinet’s work has improved.
