March 11, 2010

Investigative Judge in Mount Lebanon Fawzi Khamis on Thursday indicted ten detainees on charges of murdering George Abu Madi and attempting to kill several other people in Ain al-Remmaneh in October, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Khamis requested the detainees be sentenced to death for their crimes.

According to reports, Madi—a 30 year old bank employee—was returning home from a shop in Ain al-Remmaneh when Shiyyah residents allegedly stabbed him to death following clashes between people in the two neighborhoods.

NNA identified the detainees as: Ali Hussein Yassine, Ali Hassan as-Sayyed Hussein, Samih Moussa Hammoud, Ali Hussein Bilal, Hussein Kamal al-Shinawi, Ahmad Hussein Mohammad Issa, Ibrahim Mohammad Yassine, Yihya Nayif Yihya, Hassan Ahmad Fayez and Abbas Mohammad Zahdi.

Khamis transferred the case to the Attorney General of Appeals in Mount Lebanon.
