Qassem: Israeli-Palestinian negotiations aim to legitimize occupation
March 10, 2010

During a ceremony held in Baalbek on Wednesday, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said that Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations aim to legitimize the Israeli occupation instead of liberating the Palestinian territories, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

US-brokered indirect peace talks between the Israeli and Palestinians resumed earlier in the week.

He called a heresy the belief that Lebanon’s strength lies in its weakness and diplomatic relations. He added that this outlook has been dropped and replaced with one that states that Lebanon’s strength is in its Resistance, army, people and diplomatic ties.

Efforts are being made to strengthen the Resistance and the army by supplying both with more weapons and recruits, he said, adding that the Lebanese people are being reinforced through consensus building and preparations to confront Israeli threats.
