Hezbollah’s weapons cannot be separated from the national defense strategy talks during the national dialogue, Lebanon First bloc MP Khaled Zahraman told OTV on Wednesday.
He commented on Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah’s recent statement that “discussing the Resistance or its weapons during the national dialogue is out of the question,” saying the statement is dangerous. He noted that it comes after the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) issued its first annual report on Saturday. However, he did not elaborate further.
Zahraman said the Resistance should not belong to a certain “category of people,” who, he added, acts outside the jurisdiction of the state.
“We must find a way to include the Resistance’s [arms] under the state’s authority,” he said.
According to Zahraman, Arabs are also concerned with Lebanon’s national defense strategy, “which is why the Arab League should participate in the national dialogue.”
He also said Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s anticipated visit to Syria will not take place anytime soon, even though it is on the PM’s agenda.
