Jumblatt criticizes Knesset’s lifting of Palestinian Druze MP’s parliamentary immunity
December 14, 2009

During his weekly article with Al-Anbaa newspaper to be published on Tuesday, Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt said that the Israeli Knesset’s decision to lift the parliamentary immunity of Palestinian Druze MP Saied Naffah reflects Tel Aviv’s hatred toward the “Druze of occupied Palestine.”

“Such a step necessitates that the Druze become more insistent on their Arab identity in ordervto confront all Israeli plans against them,” Jumblatt said.

He said that Tel Aviv’s provocative measures to seize lands and demolish houses in Jerusalem confirm that it does not want to reach a real settlement with the Palestinians.

Jumblatt called for all the Palestinian parties to overcome their differences and sign the national Memorandum of Understanding, which was discussed months ago in Cairo, in order to confront the Israeli occupation.
