Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Monday that Tel Aviv informed the UN that it will continue gathering intelligence in southern Lebanon “as long as the government in Beirut is not in full control of its territory.”
Israel’s response comes after Lebanon submitted a memorandum to the UN in complaint of the espionage devices, which it said Israel placed in Khallit al-Onq area in South Lebanon two weeks ago.
The daily added that upon the UN’s request to Israel to provide clarifications, Tel Aviv neither denied nor confirmed that it is responsible for such activity.
