Gad al-Maleh cancels three Beiteddine Festival shows
June 27, 2009

French comedian Gad al-Maleh announced on Saturday that he has cancelled his Beiteddine Festival performances, after being scheduled to perform on July 13, 14 and 15.

Maleh said his decision to pull out of the festival was due to “aggressive views and calls” which opposed his participation, and out of concern for his personal security and the well-being of the festival.

Al-Manar has reported on its website that Maleh has “served” with the Israeli army and supported Israeli interests.

Maleh said that he understands the situation and thanked the Lebanese who had reserved tickets to watch his three shows.

When will the Lebanese forget their religious/sexual/ideological (if such a thing still exists in this hole they call a nation) differences, and become a real society? grow up and stop looking like kids to the rest of the world.

Yea, where is the proof? According to wikipedia, this man has lived his early life in Morroco before moving to Paris. What would bring him all the way to Israel to fight in a war? If these allegations happen to be true, than I support the cancellation of his show; however, I have a strong feeling this was made up because he is Jewish. Ok, so the man is "Christian" except he does not believe in some prophet named Jesus. Hizb, is that why you hate this man so much, because he does not believe in one Muslim prophet? Why would the man fight/fund the destruction of Lebanon, yet, travel to the country to entertain its people? WHY?

some tramps are utterly funny. poeple don't make up allegations against randoms. we have had many musicians and actors come to lebanon from the west or elsewhere in the world and no one said anything. why on earth would we invite those who collaborate israel? come on stop making the world laugh at us. really some lebanese are thick in the head. good he cancelled. if i was him i would indeed be scared for my life.

They have no proof of what they said!!! Some people really love him and enjoy his show here!!!!!!!!!! why dnt they gossip about other politicians and israel!!!!!!!!!! Now they want to also interfere in entertainements in Lebanon!!! This is shamefull of a country like Lebanon who has been a center for culture and entertainment for the whole of the ME. This all so sad....

This outrageous. This is the sort of things that keeps us opposed to hizb allah the most. Thank you for constantly trying to mess up the lebanese summer tourism and prosperity. Gad el Maleh is agreat comedian and a very funny man, he has never served in Israel, he just happened to be of jewish descent which is ACCEPTABLE in Lebanon by CONSTITUTION. This is a shame. Thank you.

Well, I guess that before we know it, and for the sake of national consensus, we're practically starting to give up all of our artistic endeavours. BTW, to be in phase with those medieval convictions maybe we should stop using anything closely or remotely associated with Microsoft and Bill Gates, right?
